A Cocktail, With A Story
Just this past weekend my husband and I attended the wedding of two close friends. It was an adult only wedding, and the first weekend my husband and I spent away from our little girl. To help take the sting out of our first time apart, I planned on taking full advantage of the open bar at the reception.
Earlier in the week while talking with my father-in-law somehow the gauntlet was thrown down. We had both agreed we would go drink for drink at the upcoming wedding.** I thought I might be in trouble, being that I married into an Irish family, but then I remembered…I went to Penn State, I could handle it.
The first drink I ordered, was an adult Shirley Temple. Club soda, grenadine and vodka. It is my normal go to drink. Then I noticed what my father-in-law, who is known as Paco to his grandchildren, was drinking. Vodka and grenadine with a twist of lime. I decided if I was going to go drink for drink, I should be drinking the same thing. And with that, the Paco was born.
The bar tenders quickly recognized who we were, and when I would go up for a drink they would pour me an extra for my father-in-law, and visa versa. Anytime one of us was even near the bar we returned with two Paco’s in hand. The night was full of fun, laughter and very interesting dancing. It was a night that no one will soon forget.
In honor of my father-in-law and the fact that we were able to keep up with each other, I am sharing the recipe for “The Paco” with all of you. Just be warned, drinking more than one could lead to laughter, spontaneous dancing, and the inability to drive.
The Paco
1 part Grenadine to 2 parts Vodka with a slice of Lime
Stirred, Not Shaken
**I am in no way condoning excessive drinking or peer pressure drinking. We were all staying at the bed and breakfast where the wedding was being held, and no one had to drive that evening.

Oh my goodness! This story had me laughing out loud. LOVE the name of the drink and the story behind it!
I still have no idea why you two thought this was a good idea lol. BUT… you were up early the next day (yay you) and I love a drink with a story behind it!
I actually felt pretty good in the morning, better than everyone expected! lol
Yum! I absolutely love this story, you guys sound like fun people to hang out with at a wedding!! My go-to fancy sounding drink is a Whiskey Sour with a splash of Grenadine, I’m a sucker for grenadine, it makes everything taste a little bit like candy!
I am not a big whiskey fan, but my hubby loves it, and whisky sours do sound fancy!
