As a military family, moving is like second nature to us. As you know we are in the process of packing and moving, again. This time it isn’t for a PCS, but because our lease was running out and it was time to find something that was a better fit. This is the first time we are moving on our own with a toddler. And she has made it painfully obvious she won’t be helping with any of the packing.
Yesterday morning before nap time I decided we could work on packing up some of the living room. I put a box on the floor and showed her how to put in her toys. Hoping it would keep her busy and by chance it might actually result in a few things being packed. Instead, she found a tissue box and went rouge…she started pulling out every tissue, transforming them into tissue confetti, and then began feeding her newly made confetti to the dogs. They were more than happy to eat up her yummy treats. I bet you can guess how much I got done that morning.
My exhaustion made me start to think about all of the things that would be easier than packing with a toddler…then I asked some friends to add their own opinions. The result, a list of thirty-five things we all think that would be easier than trying to pack out a home with a toddler residing inside…
1-Walking to school both ways, uphill, in the snow with no shoes -Every grandparent. Ever.
7- Juggling running chainsaws while riding a unicycle performing an Evel Knievel jump through a flaming ring and singing the national anthem. At.the.same.time. -Emma, Emery
Those were so fun…and accurate. We just moved with a one year old and will be doing it again in about 6 months! I feel your pain. Best of luck with the move!
