5 Reasons Why You Should Never* be Best Friends with a Military Spouse
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “oh you’re a military spouse” as if it were an infectious disease, and if someone got too close they might just catch it. I promise being married to someone in the military doesn’t make someone a bad friend! Why?…
They Are Too Patient
Every military spouse is pretty used to the concept of hurry-up and wait. Why would you want to be friends with someone who can put up with you running late?
They Only Make Plans in Pencil
Military spouses are used to plans changing at the last-minute, and are willing to change plans with little to no warning. Also, because of plans changing they can often be available at a moments notice as well.
They are Resourceful
Murphy’s Law always goes into full effect every time their spouse deploys, or TDYs for an extended amount of time. So may spouses are capable of fixing things around the house, or at least know the best people to call.
Military Spouses Move Often
Yeah it sucks when they move away, because there is zero way to stay in contact. Who wants a friend they can go visit or use as a stopping point on their next trip? And why have a friend that can help you plan your next road trip because they’ve only driven it a bazillion times and could let you know the best places to stop.
They Always Have Phone Charger
If you think Boy Scouts are always prepared you should see the inside of a military spouse’s bag while their spouse is deployed. They’ve got everything in there, tablet, phone, chargers, extra batteries, etc. When you never know when your spouse might be able to FaceTime, one must always be prepared!
